An Ordinance to impose Stamp Duties in lieu of the Fees payable to the Emigration Officer of Hongkong under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871.”

[20th December, 1872.]

WHEREAS it is expedient to impose stamp duties in lieu of the fees payable to the emigration officer of Hongkong under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871" Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. From and after the commencement of this Ordinance, no fees shall be payable to the emigration officer of Hongkong under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871," but in lieu thereof the following stamp duties are hereby imposed, that is to say

Upon every application for a certificate under Article II of the Regulations contained in schedule B of the said Ordinance, a stamp duty of...... $2.5 Upon every certificate granted under article 1 of the said regulations, a stamp duty of........ $2.5

2. No fee shall henceforth be payable in this Colony by the master of a ship for a copy of the said Ordinance under Article I of the said Regulations.

3. "The Stamp (Amendment) Ordinance, 1868" shall be read as if the stamp duties hereby imposed were inserted in the schedule of the said Ordinance.

4. Nothing in this Ordinance contained shall be deemed to affect the payment of fees under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871," to any emigration officer at any port or place out of the Colony.
