Mr. Robert Simpson has recovered 51. damages, and 1191 16s. 11d costs against the Rev. J. Cor. diner, minister of Forgue. The action was for certain expressions uttered by the Rev, defender from the pulpit of the parish charch of Forgue on the 9th of Jan. 1842, in reference to the pursuer, and in his presence, and while the congregation was convened for public worship.
The family of the late Dr. Abercrombie have presented his valuable prosessional library, amount- ing to nearly one thousand volumes, to the Royal College of Surgeons, of which he had been a member since 1804.
A full-grown stag was lately shot in the woods of Achilty, by Mrs. Ross, of Rossie. This is the second instance of the lady's display of adroit deer stalking this season, having, a few days previously, shot another stag with the German rifle.
