A meeting was lately, held of the Scottish Epis. copal Society. The object of this institution is to , augment the miserable salaries of the Episcopal clergy, some of whom have only 401, a-year; also to furnish retired allowances to aged and disabled ministers, to aid in building chapels and schools. and to supply Bibles gratis to the poorer members The Scottish Episcopal Church has about ninety chapels, and its incumbers are said to include a ma jority of the nobility and gentry. The Society draws its supplies from all Scotland, and the whole sum which it has raised in a year, with the aid of its Poors, Honourables, and titled patrons, for the laudable purposes mentioned,-is only 1,800.

Officers of the Society except one a General meeting of the Medical Mis- sionary Society in China will be held at Hongkong at the Hospital of the Institutions on Saturday the 19th April at in part 4 o'clock for the transaction of general business.
I am further directed to state that, with extreme regret the committee have received intimation, that a meting was held in Canton on the 26th March, at which one officer and two other member of the Society only were present, and assuming to be a meeting of the Medical Missionary Society in China; and reluctantly to declare that the said maceting, being convened and held in opposition to the expressed views of a majority of the Society, did not constitute a meeting of the Medica! Mis sionary Society.
