i
the staple articles of consumption, and this feeling in some measures induces pauljon among the buyers, while there pre willing sellers in abundance; therefore we have nothing to report; but as a remark generally applicable we confirm our last advicce and sull believe that raw produce has not yot reached its minimum price. The prospects of importers brought by the mail jast in, are bad enough, for certain loss
zijast ensue,
In our manufacturing districts the mills are in full work, while in France the contrary is reported; this (with the Con- tinental munufactures in other parte complaining) shows
that, notwithstanding the cheapness of their motive power, we have nothing to fear from foreign competition.
Yarns of nearly all descriptions have been sought after during the past month. The Indian numbers of Mule Twist are contracted for some time to come, and 20's Water, puitable for the Levant and China, ara also scarce The mildness of the season has enabled the exporters to the north of Europe to continue their shipments, almost uninterrupted. ly, up to the present moment; and if a cessation of sendings should now cause a partial quietness in some of the qualides of twist, the cffect will be rather beneficial than otherwise, as yarns used in the home trade are unusually high, causing Icsses to those makera who have to go into the market for Pincops and Warps. At foot we give a statement of the exporte of yarn from Hull, from which it will be seen that the falling off which was apparent in the first quarter is made up, and that the export of the entire year will ee about the Bome as in 1843, as far as regarde Germany.
Goods of almost all descriptions bave been in den and. Fewer purchases have, however, been effected for ladia, and the prices of 40-inch shirtings have slightly given way; both 60 and 12 reed may be bought at 14d. per piece, or eu, lower than at the beginning of November. Printing Cloth is a little higher; Domestics and Long Cloths are without any change.
TEA.
There has been only one pablic sale held during the past month, viz-
On the 20th, consisting of 11,500 packages, of which 2,900 were sold.
The sale passed heavily as to Congott, nearly the whole which was bought in, but geen teas sold with animation at improved prices. A chop of 300 half cheats of common Twokay realised is 24d. being an advance of Id to 13 per ib, as compared with the last public sale; Bysons sold Id per lb, and young Hysons 2d to 3d perth, higher.
Of the quantity brought forward, 3,500 packages were junk tea, nearly all loose," these were chiefly bought in, but a considerable portion afterwards sold at full rate-- ranging from 4d and half to Ed. per lb.
Somo
In Congou tea but few sales have been made by private contract beyond those for the immediate requirements of the trade, the speculative demand having ceased, and the im. porters generally requiring fully the advanced rates. sales mode last week in Liverpool, ex " William Mitchel," at rates below those ruling berc, hove tended to increase the disinclination to purchase common Congous. A large busi. nees has been done in green teas, chiefly of recent imparts. During the early part of the month, Twankaya were inquired for, on speculation at 181d and half to Is 2d, but since the sales of the 20th, fully 5,000 packages have been sold at 19 2d and half to is 24 per l, chicly ex William Hyde," and Grecian "aales have also been made of superior qualj. ty led and fine and extra fine 1s 10d, and 29 5d. Some young Hysons have brought extreme prices, as have also several chops of superior made Canton Imperials and Gun powders. The advance in Tawankay lead to some inquiry for the better descriptions of common Hyeon skin,
The present rates, as compared with these rating on the 1st nlimo, shew no alteration in the prices of Congo but na advance of Id and half per ib, on common and good Twan kays, and 3d to 5d on the superior anton Imperials and Gunpowders,

SILK.
There has been upon the whole a very fair business dune during last month, notwithstanding many branches of the trade were represented to be exceedingly quite, The inquiry The importe- lor Bengals was good, at rather lower rates. tions have been much less than expected, and smaller than for some months; the quantity which should strive in the present month is heavy, and we think may reached 1,5000 ér 1,600 bales. The deliveries have been good, and in fair proportion to those of previous montha. There is nothing of novelty in the Teatlee market, the arrivals have been pretty good for the season, but not so large as we were led to ex. peet. In Canton silk the demand has been active, and al- most all those which were imported in October have been sold.
