Omee of Ordnance 23rd October, 1911-

On Saturday night a robbery was committ. ed on board the John Barry, by part of her crew (Chinaman). They wrenched the lock off a treasure chest, and abstracted the contents amounting to about 85,000 in syces.

It is sup posed that, a native boat came alongside dur ing the night, in which the culprits escaped to the mainland,

Partonately the firm, who use the Jobs Barry as a receiving ahip, recently removed their reasore from the vessel to their treasury ashore, had this not been done, it is possible that the robbery would have been one of a very serious

nature.
