INQUEST BEFORE Mr“ FARNCOMB. CORER On Thursday 17th August an Inquest was held on the body of a Chinaman, that was found dead on the Queen's-road.

Mr Christopher was sworn and deposed. I went in consequence of information to a spot on the Queen's road, near to the premises of Mr. Townsend and there found deceased lying beside a boat. I spoke to him, and from what I could understand, he wanted some food. He seemed much exhausted, was breathing heavily, and his stomach `heaving considerably. My coolies gave- him some rice. I did not see him again until this mor sing, he was then dead. From what I saw of him, I think

chit death was caused from want of nourishment.

VERDICT; died from want of common necessaries of life.

THE WEATHER.

At seven in the evening, a hurricane of wind and rain came on from 8SW, which lasted nearly three hours; heavy rain during the whole night. Sunday-cold morning, partial showers during the day, evening dry and clear, during the night, heavy rains. Monday, partial showers sunshine, and slight breezes during the day evening very fine. We insert a communication, signed A SUFFERER, with respect to an irregularity in our Post Office arrangements, which only has to be brought to the notice of the authorities, and we are quite sure the recurrence of this complaint will be avoided. The high respectability of our Corre- spondent warrants us in avouching the entire cor- rectness of his statement.
