"Akow" deposes, I keep a boat, and was going from here to Chungee to bring over some Bullocks for the Comprador "Attai" on Monday inst, and when nearly across the bay, a boat chased us and we pushed for the opposite shore and as the other made us they fired two muskets at our boat, I and the crew being 4 in all, jumped into the water and fled to the shore, the rab- 1 will swear to them, they had spears shields and bers boarded my boat, the prisoners were both there, words, the others were all armed, the robbers were 8 boat 14 pieces of clothes worth 10 Dollars, some Egga in number. "Attak" deposes, I saw the pirates rob the boat belonging to "Akow” and as mine was only 30 yards from her, we were obliged to stop for fear of our own lives, as the robbers ordered us to do so, they were 8 in number, my boat had only two men besides my self, was procceding in company with "Akow". The two prisoners, I can swear to them, they had spears in their hands all the pirates were armed. They robbed my boat of 4 pieces of wearing apparel valued at 3 ¦ § long cloth worth 28-78 in Silver and 900 cash, making in all a loss of 13 ‡ #-We had no arms 3 of - the men from the pirate boat boaaded us.

The happy termination to the war, now severs the tie which united the Lientenant General with his gallant comrades at Chu san, Kolungsco and Hongkong with those who return with him to India, a brief space more will dissolve his connection, but nei- ther time nor circumstances will effa deep interest, which he feels in the being and the honor of the Corps and viduals, that compose the Army of China, and with this assurance Sir Hugh Gough bids them farewell!
