GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
HE Contract hitherto in force for the publication of GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATIONS having ceased on the 21st instant THE Contract they given, that the HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, this day established, wat be hereafter the only Official Organ of Proclamations, Notifications, and all Public Papers of this Government.

The Honorable P. I. Sterling, Esquire, having been granted twelve months' leave of absence by the Honorable the Lieutenant-Governor with the concurrence of the Executive Council, left the Colony by the Mail Steamer on the 15th Instant; and it is hereby notified that the Honorable the Lieutenant-Governor has appointed W. T. Bridges, Esquire, to act as Attorney-General from that
date.
The Honorable W. T. Bridges, Esquire, has accordingly taken this day the oaths of Office as Acting Attorney-General, and a Member of the Legislative Council,
