GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

THE Contract hitherto in force for the publication of GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATIONS having ceased on the 21st instant -Notice is hereby giver, that the HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, this day established, will be hereafter the only Official Organ of Proclamations, Notifications, and all Public Papers of this Government,

PROCLAMATION.

BY the Honorable Lieutenant Colonel WILLIAM CAINE, Lieutenant-Governor Administering the Government of the Colony of Hongkong, and its Dependencies.

WHEREAS the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty the QUEEN, conveyed through The Right Honorable Sir George Grey, Baronet, G.C.B., M.P., Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, approving of and confirming the three following Ordinances; namely:

-

Ordinance No. 3 of 1854, entitled, An Ordinance to declare certain Acts of the Imperial Parlia- ment to in force be in this Colony ;

Ordinance No. 4 of 1854, entitled, An Ordinance for reducing the number of Jurymen from Eighteen to Ten;

Ordinance No. 5 of 1854, entitled, An Ordinance to amend and extend the Ordinance No. 9 of 1845, entitled, “ An Ordinance to invest the Supreme Court of Hongkong with a Summary Jurisdiction in certain cases:

Now, therefore, it is hereby declared that the said three Ordinances have been so approved and confirmed as aforesaid.

Given at Victoria, Hongkong, this 5th Day of April, 1855.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby Notified that the Rule of Court of Michaelmas Term, 1854, providing for Ten Criminal Sessions in each year, and reducing Court Fees, &c., which passed the Legislative Council of Hongkong on the 31st Day of October, 1854, has been approved and confirmed by The Right Honorable The Secretary of State for the Colonies.
