GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
¡HE Contract hitherto in force for the publication of GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATIONS having ceased on the 21st instant. -Notice is hereby given, that the HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, this day established, will be hereafter the only Official Organ of Proclamations, Notifications, and all Public Papers of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
The Honorable William T. Mercer, Esquire, Colonial Secretary and Auditor General having returned to the Colony, resumes this day the duties of his Office.
Mr. Mercer also resumes his seat in the Executive Council, filled during his temporary absence by the Honorable C. B. Hillier, Esquire.

NOTIFICATION.
Diplomatic Department.
His Excellency Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintendent of British Trade, &c., &c., directs it to be notified that the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through the Right Honorable the Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, have been received, approving of and confirming Ordinance No. 1 of 1854, intituled An Ordinance for the prevention of Desertion amongst Her Majesty's Naval and Military Forces serving in the Colony of Hongkong or in China.
