The following Return of Notes in Circulation and Specie in Reserve at the Bank of the Oriental Bank Corporation in Hongkong is published for general information.

THE PENINSULAR & ORDENTAL STEAM NAVIGATION COM-pectively for 1 European and 1 Coloured prisoner, as

PANY'S Steam-ship DOURO, Captain HEDERSTEDT, per scale. with Her Majesty's Mails, Passengers, Specie, and Cargo, will leave this for the above Places, on Monday the 22d May, at 2 P. M.

CARGO will be received on board until 5 P. M. on the 20th, SPECIE until Noon on the 21st, and PARCELS until 2 P. M. on the 21st.

For particulars regarding FREIGHT and PASSAGE, apply at the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Com- pany's Office, Hongkong.

CONTENTS, AND VALUE OF PACKAGES, ARE REQUIRED. A written declaration of the Contents and Value of the Packages for the Overland Route is required by the Egyptian Government, and must be delivered by the Ship- per to the Company's Agents with the Bills of Lading, or with Parcels; and the Company do not hold themselves responsible for any Detention or Prejudice which may happen from incorrectness in such declaration.

FIREWOOD for cooking, 2lbs; and lb COMMON SOAP each prisoner per month.

Ration for Chinese or Coloured prisoner per diem.

1 Catty of sound coarse RICE.

2 Taels of FISH (salt or fresh.)

8 Taels of VEGETABLES (according to season) Twice in each week in lieu of FISH.

Sufficient FIREWOOD for cooking the above. Separate Tenders will also be received for supply of OIL for HER MAJESTY'S GAOLs during the same period. Further particulars to be obtained upon application to the Gaoler or the undersigned.

The Contractor to find approved security for fulfil- ment of his Contract.
