GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

THE Contract hitherto in force for the publication of GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATIONS having ceased on the 21st instant, Notice is hereby given, that the HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, this day established, will be hereafter the only Official Organ of Proclamations, Notifications, and all Public Papers of this Government.

NOTICE.

THE PENINSULAR AND ORIENTAL STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY regret to announce, that in consequence of the great increase in the price of Coals, and in other items of expenditure connected with the Navigation of their Steamers, they have been compelled to recur to Charges for PASSAGE MONEY, similar to those existing previous to the commencement of last year, when it will be remembered a considerable Reduction was made.

The Company trust that the circumstances which have obliged them to adopt this measure will not be of long duration; but in the meantime, on and after this day, and until further notice, the Fares to Southampton, in- cluding the Expense of Transit through Egypt, will be as follows:

A Lady or Gentleman travelling singly,- occupying a Berth in one of the General Cabins,...

A Married couple,—

occupying a Reserved Private Cabin,...

.: Children with their Parents,—
