The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby

given, that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE'

will, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Notice is hereby given, that a Sale of Crown Lands will be held by Public Auction on the 16th November next ensuing, at which will be offered for competition, in two Marine Lots, that parcel of Ground Northward of the

Supreme Cdurt-house and Post-office.

Also in four Marine Lots, each of about One Hundred

Feet frontage, a certain portion of the Ground extending

Eastward from the Harbour-master's Boat-house, together 14

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION:

With reference to Government Notification No. 46, it

is hereby intimated, that amongst the Conditions of Sale as regards Lots Nos. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, will be inserted one to the effect that, on these Lots, the Buildings to be erected can only be of a Construction to be approved in writing by the Surveyor General, and of the same character as those in the immediate vicinity.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION

With reference to Government Notifications Nos. 46- and 47, it is hereby intimated, that Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8p therein referred to, have been so arranged as to conform to

a project contemplated by Government, by wliich a Praya: will be constructed; extending Northward of the City of

Victoria from the Parade Ground to Possession Point.

The particulars of, and advantages to be derived from, the proposed measure, will be readily perceived from the. subjoined Minute, recently submitted for tlie consideration of His Excellency the Governor.

Further particulars will be notified hereafter; and Lease-

holders who, by contiguity of property, are interested. in.
