GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to comme. from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE"

1, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Diplomatic Department,

It has been officially announced to His Excellency Sir JOHN BOWRING, that, by a Decree dated Manila, 29th gust, 1855, the Exportation of Rice and Paddy from the Philippines is permitted on the following Conditions:

1st, That the Exportation of Rice and Paddy be placed under no Restrictions and Formalities other than those ch apply to articles in which the Trade is free.

2d, That the Exportation of Rice and Paddy be allowed in the Ports of Manila, Sual, Currimao, Salomague, Miguel, Iloilo, Capiz, and Antique.

3d, That no License be required from the Supreme Government, but that Permissions be given by the Admi- ators of the Customs where Custom Houses are established, and by the Governors of Provinces where there are Custom Houses.

4th, That the Exportation for Foreign parts shall cease, if in any Week the Price shall continue during Four ecutive Days above Eighteen Reals in the Manila, and above Fourteen in the Provincial Markets; but it shall ree when, for Four consecutive Days in a Week, the Price shall fall below these limits.

5th, It is ordered that a return of Prices be made by the respective authorities on every Saturday Evening. 6th, That on the Last Day of every Month, a Return of the Quantities of Rice Exported and Particulars of Ex- ation be made to the Supreme Authorities.

7th, That an Official Return of the Prices of all Articles of Export be made Monthly to the Military and ince Intendants.

8th, That the Prices which are to regulate the Exportation of Paddy are 9 (nine) Reals in the Manila and even) in the Provincial Markets.

All which is published for general information.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

His Excellency The Governor having' been pleased to cancel the Commission of the Peace hitherto existent, ets information to this effect to be made public; and also notifies, that a new Commission was appointed on the 3d unt, consisting of the following Gentlemen :-
