The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby , that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE,”

*, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is in contemplation to offer for Sale by Public Auc- tion the Land situated between the site of the late Howitzer Battery and the site of the late Naval Stores, forming a length of frontage of about 900 Feet.

Parties desirous of purchasing Lots in that Locality, either on the sea or land side of the Queen's Road, are requested to communicate with the Surveyor General on or before the 20th instant, in order that their wishes with regard to Size may as far as possible be attended to previously to the completion of the plan.

The Sale will take place on the 4th proximo, before which date the detailed particulars of the Land and Rental will be published for general information.
