The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby given, that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that
“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE'
will, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

Diplomatic Department. Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintendent of Trade, publishes for general information a Regu- Iation issued by Her Majesty's Officiating Consul in Bangkok, prohibiting the throwing Ballast into the River or Outer Anchorage of that Port.

W. WOODGATE.
For the Port of Bangkok, Siam,
H.B.M. CONSUlate, Bangkok, 15th April, 1857. The throwing of Stone and other descriptions of Ballast into the River, or at the Anchorage outside the Bar, within Seven (7) Fatbonus depth of Water, is positively prohibited.
Masters of Vessels under British Colours, convicted of a breach of this Rule, will subject themselves to a Fine of not less than Ten Pounds {£10), and not exceeding Twenty-five Pounds (£25), according to the circumstances of the case.

Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintendent of Trade, publishes for general information a Notification of Her Majesty's Officiating Consul for Bangkok, announcing the establishment of a Custom-house in that Port, and the Regulations which are there to be observed by British Shipping.

NOTIFICATION.

H.B.M. Acting Consul begs to notify to the British residents at Bangkok, that on and after Monday next, the 27th day of April, a Custom-house will be opened within the Dockyard of H. E. Somdet Ong-noi (about 200 yards South of the new site for the British Con- cate, where all Business will be transacted in conformity with the General Regulations under which Trade is to be conducted at Siam.
The following additional Rules have likewise been entered into by the undersigned and the Siamese Authorities.
J. Every English Merchant having Cargo to load or discharge, must give due intimation thereof to the Custom-house, where a Pass, if for Export Cargo, will be granted on application, for each Lighter proceeding to deliver cargo at the Bar. On arrival at Paknam, this Fa must be delivered to the chief Authority there.
11. Both Import and Export Duties must de paid at the Custom-bouse; and upon a vessel being ready to proceed to sca, the Master Consignee, on application at the Custom-house, will receive two Certificates, the one for the payment of Import the other for Export Daties. These being obtained, the Master will proceed to the British Consulate, and deliver in to the Consul a true Manifest of outward Cargo, together with the said Certificates. The Ship's Papers will then be returned to the Master, and the vessel allowed to leave.
