GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The Honourable HENRY TUDOR DAVIES, Esquire, having resigned from this date his Offices under the Gove ment of Hongkong, WILLIAM HENRY MITCHELL, Esquire, will officiate as Acting Chief Magistrate, and Cu

May, Esquire, as Acting Assistant Magistrale and Sheriff.

Mr JARMAN, under the general supervision of Mr MAY, will act as Superintendent of Police. These provisional appointments will take effect from the 1st of June, and be subject to tho approval or oth wise of the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the Colonies.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Sealed. Tenders will be received at this Office, up to Noon of the 19th day of June instant, for the Privilk: of Slaughtering Cattle in the Western Slaughter House for the year commencing the 1st of July next.

Similar but separate Tenders will be received for the like Privilege at the Eastern Slaughter House. The Conditions in either case shall be such as are set forth in the Markets' Ordinanco 1858, and the Bye-La issued thereunder, and shall be subject to such modification as may be made by any subsequent revision of ti... Ordinance or of those Bye-Laws.

Each Tender must be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, and state the exact amount offered as Annual Re: which Rent shall be payable Monthly and in advance.
