GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

[APRIL 16, 1850

His Excellency Sir JOHN BOWRING, Knight, LL.D., Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintend. of British Trade in China, &c. &c., has received the following Notification from His Excellency Monsieur A.; BOURBOULON, Minister Plenipotentiary of His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of the French, announcing the eff tive Blockade of the River Saigon; and the said Notification is published for the information of all whom

may concern.

DIVISION NAVALE DES MERS DE CHINE.

CABINET DE L'AMIRAL.

Je soussigné Vice-Amiral, Commandant-en-chef les Forces Fran- çaises et Espagnoles combinées dans les Mers de Chine,

DECLARE:

A compter du 15 Mars 1859, la rivière de Saïgon sera tenue en état de Blocus effectif par les Forces Navales et Militaires placées sous mon

commandement.

Il sera procédé contre tout bâtiment qui essaierait de violer le Blocus conformément aux Lois Internationales et aux Traités en vigueur avec les Puissances Neutres.
