GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified, that under the terms of Section 3 of Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, and Section 1 of Ordinance 7 of 1858, Wednesday, the 9th Day of November next, is fixed for a Special Sessions of Justices of the Peace, to held on that day, at the Office of the Chief Magistrate of Police, at Elevon o'Clock in the Forenoon, for the pur- of considering Applications for Licenses for the sale of Spirituous and Fermented Liquors, during the year ameneing the 1st December next.

Applications for such Licenses must be lodged at the Chief Magistrate's Office, at least Ten Days before the sions, in the Form prescribed by the above quoted Section of the first mentioned Ordinance; and no application I after that period be received for submission to the Sessions.

Printed forms of Applications may be obtained, by intending Applicants, at the Chief Magistrate's Office, on "eck Days between the Hours of 10 A M. and 4 P.M.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

A Premium of One Thousand Dollars will be given by the Government for the best and most practicable Scheme providing the City of Vietoria with a constant and sufficient supply of Pure Water. The Report must be accom- led with Specifications, Plans, and Working Drawings, and a detailed Estimate of the whole service.

It is not templated to expend a larger sum than £25,000, and it is hoped that the work may be efficiently executed for a ch sinaller outlay.

The Reports must be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, and reach his Office by noon of the 1st February, 1860, en they will be submitted to the decision of a Committee of non-competitors appointed for the purpose by His Ex- Hency The Governor.
