The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1653, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby given that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE"

will, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

IIis Excellency the Governor directs that public attention be called to the subjoined Notice, issued by the Colo- nial Surgeon.

VACCINATION.

The Colonial Surgeon, having obtained a supply of good vaccine lymph, is desirous of securing a continued succession of cases, so as to Cice the entire Colony in such a state of protection against epidemies of Small-pox, as vaccination affords.

With this object in view he will be happy to vaccinate gratuitously all Children, European or Chinese, brought to his house, Elgin Ter. ruce, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, between 11 and 12 o'clock.

He will require, however, the following rules to be attended to:––

1st, The vaccinated Children will be brought back on the Eth day from the date of vaccination.

24, No one is to interfere with the vaccine pustule in the way of vaccinating children from it, removing lymph, or otherwise. Sd, Children having regular Medical attendants, will please bring a certificate to

to undergo the operation and propagate the virus.
