Notice is hereby given, that the Reports and Plans for the proposed Water Supply will be exposed for Public Inspection for One Week, from Tuesday next, the 13th Instant, between the hours of 10 A.M., and 4 P.M. in the Jury Room at the Court House.

An Ordinance for amending and consolidating the Law respecting Puwnbrokers.

Be it enacted and ordained by His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows :--

I. Ordinance No. 11 of 1858, and Sections 17, 25, 26, 28, 29 and 30 of No. 14 Repeal of previous of 1845 so far as the same concern or relate to Pawnbrokers shall be and the same are hereby repealed.

II. No Person shall use or exercise the trade or business of a Pawnbroker or Lender of Money on deposits in Hongkong unless he be then the holder of a Pawn- broker's License, or a Public Salesman, unless he be then the actual holder of an Auctioneer's License.

VI. He shall, whensoever thereunto required by the Superintendent of Police, or inspection of Bookɔ. any Inspector of Police, or by any other Member of the Police Force bearing a written Order in that behalf under the Hand of the said Superintendent, produce for the Ins- pection of the Party so requiring him all or any Goods and Chattels pledged or deposit- ed with him on lean of Monics, and all Books and Papers relating to the same.

VII. Over and above the principal Monies lent upon any Goods or Chattels, pawn- ed or pledged with the Lender, he may demand, receive, and take from the Person applying to redeem the said Goods or Chattels, before re-delivering the same to such Person, Interest upon the said principal Monies for the Month, and every fractional l'art of a Month, after such rate as shall have been agreed upon at the time of the making of the said Loan; which said principal Monies and Interest shall be taken in full Satisfaction of all Charges for or incident to the Loan to which the same relate; yet
