It having been represented to His Excellency The Governor that it will be conducive to the public interest to extend the period allowed for submission of Schemes for providing the City of Victoria with Water:-Notice is hereby given, that the period referred to in Government Notification No. 98 of 14th October 1859, is extended to Noon of the First day of March next, by which date all Plans must be lodged in this Office.

Notice is hereby given, under the provisions of Section IV. of Ordinance 11. of 1844, that Wednesday, the 7th day of February, 1860, is fixed for a Special Sessions of the Justices of the Peace, to be held at the Chief Magistrate's Office at Eleven O'Clock in the Forenoon, for the purpose of considering Applications for the transfer of Spirit Licenses by the Holders to other parties.
Such applications must be lodged at the Chief Magistrate's Office, at least ten days before the Sessions.

A Premium of One Thousand Dollars will be given by the Government for the best and most practicable Scheme for providing the City of Victoria with a constant and sufficient supply of Pure Water. The Report must be accompanied with Specifications, Plans, and Working Drawings, and a detailed Estimate of the whole service. It is not contemplated to expend a larger sum than £25,000, and it is hoped that the work may be efficiently executed for a much smaller outlay.
The Reports must be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, and reach his Office by noon of the 1st February 1860, when they will be submitted to the decision of a Committee of non-competitors appointed for the purpose by His Excellency the Governor.

TENDERS FOR FUNDS FOR USE OF FRENCH NAVY.
THE COMMISSAIRE ORDONNATEUR of the
THE COMquadron in China will receive up to Monday the 30th January, 1860, at 11 o'clock A.M., in Public Sitting at the Oriental Hotel, TENDERS which may be sent in for supplying at Hongkong, Canton, and Macao the necessary Funds for the use of the French Navy in China, or Expeditionary Force.
Tenders must be roade in writing and state the number of Francs and Centimes per Mexican Dollar. Payment will be made in drafts at one month's sight on the Public Treasury of France.
The Tender accepted to be iu force for three months unless in the incan time a branch or agency of the Treasury itself be established in which case the Tender to terminate at the end of the month in which the said branch or agency is established.
