His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to recognize FRANCIS CHOMLEY, Esquire, as Acting al for Sardinia at this Port, during the absence of JonN DENT, Esquire, in Europe.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified, that under the terms of Section 3 of Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, and Section 1 Ordinance No. 7 of 1858, Tuesday the 12th day of November next, is fixed for a Special Sessions of Justices of the Peace, to be held at the Office of the Chief Magistrate of Police, at 11 o'clock in forenoon of that day, for the purpose of considering Applications for Licenses for the sale of ritnous and Fermented Liquors, during the Year commencing the 1st December next.
Applications for such Licenses must be lodged at the Chief Magistrate's Office, at least ten days See the Sessions, in the Form prescribed by the above quoted Section of the first mentioned Ordi- mce, and no Application will after that period be received for submission to the Sessions.
Printed Forms of Applications may be obtained by intending Applicants, at the Chief Magistrate's live, on Week Days between the hours of 10 A.M. and 4 P.M.

NOTICE.
All Persons intending to apply for Seamen's Boarding House Licenses for the Year 1861-62 under Puance No. 6 of 1852 are to send in their applications in writing to this Office on or before Tuesday, * November next, stating accurately the position of the House, and that there is an entire dwelling
vening between it, and any House licensed for the sale of Spiritous or Fermented liquors.
In measuring the Rooms, strict regard will be paid to the Regulations laid down on January 1st and no License will be granted to any House that does not come within the full meaning of the
