POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.
In consequence of the resumption of the second Mail each month, and the consent of the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to the payment of a subsidy to the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company for this service, the postage on Letters between Hongkong, China, &c., &c., and the United Kingdom, has been increased to the undermen tioned rates, viz:—
For Letters to be forwarded viá Marseilles.
For a Letter not exceeding A
ounce.
For a Letter above 1 ounce and not exceeding § ounce.
For a Letter above § ounce and not exceeding 4 ounce.
For a Letter above ₫ ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce.
1s. 6d.
28. Id.
3s. Od.
1s. 3d.
ounce.
And so on,--and für Letters to be forwarded viâ Southampton.
For a Letter above 1 ounce and not exceeding 2 ounces.
For a Letter not exceeding §
For a Letter above 1 ounce and not exceeding 1 ounce.

For a Letter above 2 ounces and not exceeding 3 ounces.
6s. Oil.
and so on, and a corresponding increase is made upon Letters passing through the United Kingdom for, or from, Hongkong, China, &c., &c.
It has also been decided that in future a postage of 1s. per ounce, instead of the present rate of 4d. per ounce, be levied on each Letter forwarded viâ Point de Galle to any of the Australian Colonies or New Zealand.
