The Council met to-day by Special Summons.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 23rd March last, were read and approved.
Read a first time a Bill, entitled "An Ordinance to repcal Ordinances No. 9 of 1844, and No. 1 of
1846."
Read a first time a Bill, entitled "An Ordinance to amend the Course of Procedure in the Supreme Court of Hongkong in its Equity Jurisdiction, so as to enable it to award Damages in certain Cases."
Read a first time a Bill, entitled "An Ordinance to repeal Ordinance No. 5 of 1857, and to adopt the
Merchant Shipping Act 1854' as respects Salvage."
Read Despatch No. 5 of 5th February, 1861, from The Secretary of State relating to the above Bill. The Governor laid on the Table the Estimates for the Year 1862, and moved the first reading of a Bill, entitled "An Ordinance to apply a Sum not exceeding Sixty-eight thousand one hundred Pounds to the Public Service of the Year 1862."
The Bill was read a first time accordingly;
And the Council adjourned to Tuesday, the 25th Instant, at noon.
Read and approved, this 25th Day of June, 1861.
