THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 27TH DECEMBER, 1862.
GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
1. It is hereby notified that Colonial Postage Stamps will be issued from the Treasury and General Post Office of this Colony on and after the 8th December next.
2. These Stamps represent the following amounts in value:-
Two Cents,.... Eight Cents.
Twelve Cents,.
Eighteen Cents,
.or One Penny.
Four Pence.
.Six Pence.
Twenty-four Cents, ......One Shilling.
Forty-eight Cents,..
Nine Pence.
Two Shillings.
Ninety-six Cents,... .....Four Shillings.
3. They will be issued in exchange for the Current Dollars of the Colony.

It must be understood that the Postage Labels of this Colony are alone available for the pays ment of postage on correspondence posted at the General Post Office in Hongkong, or the Agencie- thereof at Whampoa, Canton, Macao, Swatow, Amoy, Foochow foo, Shanghae, Ningpo, Nagasaki and Yedo, and that except in the case of correspondence sent by Officers and Seamen, serving on board Her Majesty's Ships, British or Imperial Postage Stamps are not available for the payment of letters, &c., addressed to the United Kingdom.
5. Their use will for the present be optional.
6. They may be used on correspondence to places to which the prepayment of postage is either compulsory or optional, i.e., no credit will be given to these Stamps on correspondence addressed to places to which the postage cannot be prepaid in IIongkong.
*7. Correspondence insufficiently stamped will be returned to the writers with an indication of the amount insufficient, except in the case of letters, &c., originating at any of the Agencies of the Hongkong Post Office, which will, if addressed to the United Kingdom, be sent on charged with the deficient amount of postage and a fine of ls.
8. The Labels are to be placed on the upper right hand corner of the correspondence, except in cases where they may be used in payment of "Late Fees" when the Stamp representing the Late Fee is to be placed on the lower left hand corner of the correspondence.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

In consequence of the Tender for building Floating Police Stations which was accepted having been made under a misapprehension, it is hereby notified that Fresh Tenders will be received at this Office, until Noon on Monday the 29th instant, from persons willing to contract for the building of two Boats to be used as Floating Police Stations in Victoria Harbour.
Plan, Specification and further particulars can be obtained at the Harbour Master's Office. Tenders must state the time within which it is proposed to complete the work, and the person whose tender is accepted will be called upon to enter into a Bond to the Crown for the due perfor- mance of the contract.

POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified for general information that henceforward all correspondence addressed to Calcutta, to be forwarded by private Vessels, will be despatched unpaid, postage at the rate ofd. per ounce Letter being levied only upon the cor- respondence received by such Vessels.

NOTICE..
Applicants for Licenses for Cargo Boats under Ordinance No. 15 of 1860, are hereby informed that they must apply to this Office to have their Boats examined prior to such License being granted.
Present holders are also reminded that their Licenses expire on the 31st instant.
