GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Whereas several accidents have lately occurred caused by the fall of houses, the attention of the Public is drawn to the Provisions of the Building Ordinance No. 8 of 1856, and notice is hereby given that the penalties against infractions of the said Ordinance will in future be strictly enforced..

With reference to Government Notification No. 87 of 30th July, 1861, it is hereby publicly noti- fied that the only Vessels now licensed to carry the British Flag (and this solely for trading purposes) by virtue of the Colonial Register granted under Ordinance No. 4 of 1855, are the following:-

All other Registers whatsoever granted under that, Ordinance have been cancelled by expiry, sur- render of Register, neglect of conditions, loss of Vessel, or other cause.

Copies of this Notification will be sent to Her Majesty's Consuls at the various Ports of China; and any vessel, other than those above enumerated, found sailing under Colonial Registers from Hongkong will be sued for penalties, either through Owner or Sureties, under the Ordinance above quoted."

The attention of Sureties is particularly drawn to this caution.
