With reference to Government Notification No. 1 of 3rd January last, it is hereby made known that Her Majesty's Exequatur has been duly granted to HORACE N. CONGAR, Esq., as Consul in Hongkong for the United States of America."

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to recognize the provisional appointment of J. DE AGUILAR, Esq., as Vice-Consul for France at Hongkong, in succession to A. E. VAUCHER, Esq., pending instructions from Her Majesty's Government.

Tenders will be received at this Office up to Noon of Monday, the 24th Proximo, for the Privilege of preparing and selling Prepared Opium within the Colony of Hongkong for One Year from the 1st April next, under the conditions set forth in Ordinance No. 2 of 1858.
