An Ordinance tɔ amend Ordinance No. 4 of 1851, and to increase each Jury Panel to Thirty-five.

Whereas it is advisable by reason of the Increase in the Number of Trials before the Supreme Court to enlarge the Number of Jurors to form a Panel:--Be it enacted and ordained by His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:--

An Ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 13 of 1860 by abolishing the Salaries of the Chief Magistrate and Assistant Magistrate, and to make Provision for the Salaries of the Judge of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction and of Two Police Magistrates.

Whereas it is necessary to amend Ordinance No. 13 of 1860, now be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

Amendment of $1

I. Section I of Ordinance No. 13 of 1860 is hereby amended as follows: the Words "Twenty-seven Thousand" shall be struck out from the said Section, and the Words of No. 13 of 1860. "Twenty-eight Thousand One Hundred" shall be read as inserted therein in Substi- tution for the said Words "Twenty-seven Thousand."

II. The Schedule to the said Ordinance is hereby amended as follows: the Words Amendment of Sche- and Figures therein “Chief Magistrate £1,200 and £1,200" and "Assistant Magistrate £700 and £700" shall be considered as struck out from the Schedule, and the Words and Figures following "Judge of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction £1,400 and £1,400" and the Words "Two Police Magistrates (£800 each) £1,600 and £1,600" shall be considered as inserted next after the Words "Surveyor General," and instead of the Words "Chief Magistrate's Establishment" the Words "Police Magistrate's Establish-

ment" shall be inserted therein.

III. The said Ordinance No. 13 of 1860 with such Amendments as aforesaid is Subject thereto No. hereby confirmed.
