payable at sight by the Officer in charge of the Treasury chest in the Colony of Hongkong being the interest at the rate of 4 per cent per annum on $ contained in the 1st Certificate No.

granted for Indemnity for losses at Canton by Her Majesty's Minister at Peking from the 15th day of December, 1856 to the date thereof viz. the 22nd October 1861 and on the amount contained in the 2nd Certificate No.

payable 12 months after said date or from the 15th December, 185€, to the 22nd October, 1862: And I (or we) have hereby accepted the same as a settlement in full of my (or our claim for losses incurred by me (or us) through the destruction of the Foreign Factories at Canton on the 14th day of December, 1856, and I (or we) hereby relinquish all further claims on Her Majesty's Government in respect thereof.
