WEDNESDAY, 8TH JULY, 1863.
PRESENT:
His Excellency the ACTING GOVERNOR and all the Members, except the ATTORNEY GENERAL and the COLONIAL TREASURER, absent by permission.
The Council met to-day, pursuant to adjournment.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 25th June having been read and approved,
The Council resolved itself into Committee for the further consideration of the Public Carriages Bill
as amended at the last Meeting.
Section 4 amended, and agreed to. Section 7 amended, and agreed to. Section 9 amended, and agreed to.
Section 11 amended, and agreed to. Section 13 amended, and agreed to.
Section 15 struck out.
Section 1 recommitted, amended, and agreed to.
Sections 16 and 17, renumbered and ordered to stand as Sections 15 and 16.
Preamble amended and agreed to.
Title amended and agreed to.
The Council having adopted the amendments made in Committee, the ACTING GOVERNOR put the Question--That this Bill as amended do pass, and that the Title be "An Ordinance to provide for the regulation of Public Vehicles and Chairs and their Drivers and Bearers, and to license the Hire of Horses, within the Colony of Hongkong."
Question put and carried, the Ordinance being numbered "No. 6 of 1863."
The Appropriation Bill for 1864 was read a second time;
And the Council went into Committee upon the Estimates for the said Year.
