GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at this Office until Noon on Monday, the 18th Instant, from Persons willing to contract for the building of two Launches for the use of the Convict Establishment on Stone Cutters' Island.

Plan, Specification, and further particulars can be obtained at the Harbour Master's Office. Tenders must state the time within which it is proposed to complete the work, and the Person whose tender is accepted will be called upon to enter into a Bond to the Crown for the due performance of the Contract.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that a Despatch has been received from His Grace The Duke of Newcastle announcing that he had caused the Proclamation prohibitory of the export from Hongkong of Arms, Ammunition and Gunpowder, Military and Naval Stores, issued by this Government on the 28th February last, to be published in the London Gazette for the information of the Mercantile Community at Home; and it is also further notified that a Despatch has been received from the Government of the Straits Settlements stating that "under the operation of a Law recently enforced no Arms are permitted "to be sold in the Straits Settlement for exportation unless under a declaration that they are intended "for the use of the Imperial Government in China."

The attention of the Public is called to Government Notification of 11th ultimo, requiring and Lighting Rates due for the current Quarter to be paid into the Colonial Treasury before the 31st Instant, and also to the 16th Clause of Ordinance No. 5 of 1863 under which Persons will be proceeded against who shall neglect the said requisition.
