It is hereby notified, that Her Majesty has been pleased to approve of the appointment of LUDWIG WIESE, Esquire, to act as Swedish Consul at Hongkong.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Whereas early yesterday morning Police Constable No. 339 LALL KHAN, while in the execution of his duty at Wanchai, was wilfully murdered by some person or persons unknown:

Notice is hereby given, that

A FREE PARDON AND A REWARD OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS will be given to any Person,-the actual Perpetrators of the Murder excepted,-who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of one or more of the Guilty Parties.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The attention of the Public is called to Government Notification of 1st Ultimo, requiring Police and Lighting Rates due for the current Quarter to be paid into the Colonial Treasury before the 31st Instant, and also to the 16th Clause of Ordinance No. 5 of 1863 under which Persons will be proceeded against who shall neglect the said requisition.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that, at a Meeting of the Executive Council held this day, His Excellency the Acting Governor with the advice of the Council determined that the Rate imposed by Government Notification No. 23 of 21st February lasi shall be levied Quarterly, and that the amounts due for the Quarter ending 30th September next shall be payable at the Colonial Treasury, between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M., from the 1st to the 31st August next.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

persons indebted to the Government for arrears of "Crown Rents" to the 24th of June last are hereby required to pay the same into the Colonial Treasury on or before Saturday the 15th August next; after which date the names of all Defaulters will be forwarded to the Acting Crown Solicitor for the collection of the arrears herein specified.
