TIE Acting Colonial Secretary will be glad to receive information respecting the above men- tioned person, who is said to have been in Hong- kong in 1854, and had been previously trading at Amoy. It is stated that there is a "Surplus proper- ty" to which the said C. J. SMYTHE or O'REILLY

is entitled.

CHINA, Captain R. CURLING, with Her Ma- jesty's Mails, Passengers, Specie, and Cargo, will leave this for the above places on Thursday, the | 15th January, 1863, at 2 P.M.

CARGO will be received on board until Noon on the 13th January, SPECIE until Noon on the 14th January, and PARCELS until 5 P.M. on the 14th January.

For particulars regarding FREIGHT and PAS- SAGE, apply at the PENINSULAR & ORIENTAL STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY'S Office, Hong- kong.

Contents and Value of Packages are required.

** A written declaration of the Contents and Value of the Packages for the Overland Route is required by the Egyptian Government, and must be delivered by the Shippers to the Corn- pany's Agents with the Bills of Lading, or with Parcels; and the Company do not hold them- selves responsible for any Detention or Preju- dice which may happen from incorrectness on such declaration, Shippers of Cargo on the Company's Black Bills of Lading are particu- larly requested to note the Terms and Conditions of these Bills of Lading, with reference to the Transhipment and forwarding of Cargo, with a view to the adequateness of their Insurance Policies in respect of the same.
