POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified for general information that as Her Majesty's Postmaster General in London has disapproved the practice hitherto adopted by this Office of forwarding as insufficiently paid, Letters addressed to the United Kingdom, and other places, which are posted after the regular hour for closing the letter Box for the Packet correspondence, without a late fee, or with a deficient amount of late fee, on the ground that such practice is objectionable and gives rise to complaints from the persons to whom the Letters are addressed, who consider their letters over-charged in consequence, this system will be dis- continued, and henceforward correspondence posted for a particular mail will not be forwarded by that mail unless the proper fee is paid according to the notice issued on the subject, and failing such payment it will be detained for the next mail.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at the Surveyor General's Office on or before Monday, the 12th Proximo, for the Earthwork to be executed during the ensuing year at Kowloon, in forming Roads and Reclaiming,

Plans and Specification may be seen on application between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M. Tenders must state price per cubic yard.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Under the provisions of Ordinance No. 11 of 1864, Notice is hereby given that a Special Sessions of the Justices of the Peace will be held at the Police Magistrates' Court, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon of Thursday, the 5th day of January, 1865, and thereafter on the first Thursday of every month, for the purpose of considering applications for the transfer of Spirit Licenses.

Such applications to be lodged at the Police Magistrates' Court, at least ten days before each of

the Sessions now notified.

NOTICE.

Applicants for Licenses for Cargo Boats under Ordinance No. 15 of 1860 are hereby informed that they must apply to this Office to have their Boats examined prior to such License being granted.

Present holders are also reminded that their licenses expire on the 31st instant.
