GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that from and after the 22nd Instant, the Fees chargeable under Section XI of Ordinance No. 5 of 1845 will be strictly levied at this Office, and that no Certificates, Licenses, Shipping permits, or other documents to which the Official Signature of His Excellency the GOVERNOR or of the COLONIAL SECRETARY is required, will be issued without payment of the authorized Fees, excepting such Licenses or other documents as have been already subjected to the payment of Fees or other charges into the Colonial Treasury.
The Fee on the GOVERNOR'S Signature under the above Ordinance is $5, and on that of the COLONIAL SECRETARY $2.

DAVID COWEN, Defendant. HEREAS au action has been commenced
in this Court at the suit of the above named Chun ab Kwei against the above named David Cowen to recover Seen Hundred Dolters damages alleged to have been sustained by the Plaintiff by breach of contrust on the part of the Defendant; and it being alleged that the said David Cowen does not reside within the Island of Hongkong or its dependencies a Writ of Foreign Attachment has been issued returnable on the Fourteenth Day of September next wherein John Steward Lapraik and Charles Behmer are Garnishees.
Notice is hereby given thereof and that if at any time before final judgment in this action, the said David Cowen or any person on his behalf will give the security and notice and file the ap- pearance or plea required by the Ordinance of this Island intituled “An Grdinance to provide for and regulate Process in actions at Law against persons absent from the Colony," the said At- tachment may be dissolved.

HEREAS an action has been commenced in this Court at the spit of the above named Lee Ying Choong, Lee Chuiu and Lee Acher against the above named 'Ng Turk Hung, Cheong Tai and George G. Cousens, to recover Fourteen. Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty-six Dol- lars for money alleged to be due by the Defendants to the Plaintiffs for goods sold, and delivered by the Plaintiffs to the Defendants and for money received by the Defendants for the use of the Plaintiffs and for money found to bdue from the Defendants to the Plaintiffs on a comits stated between them. And it being ali ged that the said 'Ng Tuck Hung and Chrong Thi do not reside within this Island or its Dependencies a Writ of Foreign Attachment has been issued returnable on the Twelfth Day of September next wherein Adolph Bourjau and Arthur Beckh of Victoria in the Colony of Hongkong, partners in the Mercantile House of Messieurs Bourjau,
