PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency SIR HERCULES GEORGE ROBERT ROBINSON, Knight, Governor and Commander- in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through The Right Honorable EDWARD CARDWELL, M.P., Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, approving of and confirming the following Ordinance; namely:--

No. 2 of 1864, entitled-“An Ordinance for establishing a Mint in the Colony of Hongkong :" Now, therefore, it is hereby declared, that the said Ordinance has been so approved and confirmed, as aforesaid.

His Excellency the Governor is pleased to make the following Promotions and Appointments in

the Hongkong Volunteers.

Commandant FREDERIC BRINE, to be Lieutenant Colonel Commandant.

ATWELL COXON, Esq., Private Hongkong Volunteers, late sub-Officer Singapore Rifle Volunteers,

to be Captain.

Second Lieutenant HENRY COHEN, to be Lieutenant, vice FRASER, resigned.

WILLIAM JAMES IIENDERSON, Esq., Serjeant-Major Hongkong Volunteers, late Private 1st City

of London Rifle Volunteer Brigade to be Second Lieutenant, vice ConEN, promoted. Lieutenant KEARNS D. TANNER, Instructor of Musketry H. M. 99th (Lanarkshire) Regiment, to

be Honorary Rifle Instructor.

WILLIAM STANLEY ADAMS, Esq., M.D.C.M., Gunner, Hongkong Volunteers, to be Honorary

Assistant Surgeon.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Notice is hereby given that a Sale of Land at Kowloon by Public Auction will be held on the ground to be sold commencing on Monday the 25th of July at 4 o'clock, and following days at the same hour.

The accompanying Schedule of the Lots for Sale is published for general information. The plans and Conditions of Sale may be seen upon application at the Surveyor General's Office, between the hours of Eleven A.M. and Three P.M.
