His Excellency the GOVERNOR has been pleased to appoint provisionally, until Her Majesty's pleasure may be known, JAMES WHITTALL, Esquire, to be a Member of the Legislative Council of Hongkong, in the room of the Honourable ALEXANDER PERCEVAL, Esquire, who has resigned his Seat on leaving the Colony.

The Honourable JAMES WHITTALL, Esquire, has been this day sworn in accordingly.

His Excellency the GOVERNOR is pleased to make the following appointments in the Hongkong

Volunteers.

PHILIP ALBERT MYBURGH, of the Inner Temple Barrister at Law, Esquire, Gunner Hongkong Volunteers, and late Private in the Inns of Court Rifles (23 Middlesex), to be Captain, vice KANE resigned 8th April, 1864.

Lieutenant and Acting Adjutant JOHN DODD to be Adjutant, 4th April, 1864.
