ARTICLE V.

All articles which are or may be legally import- able into the ports of the dominions and possessions of Her Britannic Majesty in British vessels, may likewise be imported into those ports in Italian vessels, without being liable to any other or higher duties or charges, of whatever denomination, than if such articles were imported in British vessels; and reciprocally, all articles which are or may be legally importable into the ports of the dominions and possessions of His Majesty the King of Italy in Italian vessels, may likewise be imported into those ports in British vessels, without being liable to any other or higher duties or charges, of what- ever denomination, than if such articles were imported in Italian vessels. Such reciprocal equa- lity of treatment shall take effect without distine- tion, whether such articles come directly from the place of origin, or from any other place.

In the same manner there shall be perfect equa- lity of treatment in regard to exportation, so that the same export duties shall be paid, and the same bounties and drawbacks allowed, in the dominions and possessions of either of the Contracting Parties, on the exportation of any article which is or may be legally exportable therefrom, whether such exportation shall take place in Italian or in British vessels, and whatever may be the place of destina- tion, whether a port of either of the Contracting Parties or of any third Power.

ARTICLE VI.

No duties of tonnage, harbour, pilotage, light- house, quarantine, or other similar or corresponding duties, of whatever nature, or under whatever denomination, levied in the name or for the profit of Government, public functionaries, private indi- viduals, corporations, or establishments of any kind, shall be imposed in the ports of the dominions and possessions of either country upon the vessels of the other country, which shall not equally and under the same conditions be imposed in the like cases on national vessels in general. Such equality of treatment shall apply reciprocally to the respective vessels, from whatever port or place they may arrive, and whatever may be their place of destination.

ARTICLE VII.

In all that regards the stationing, loading, and unloading of vessels in the ports, basins, docks, roadsteads, harbours, or rivers of the dominions and possessions of the two countries, no privilege shall be granted to national vessels which shall not be equally granted to vessels of the other country; the intention of the Contracting Parties being that in this respect also the respective vessels shall be treated on the footing of perfect equality.

ARTICLE VIII.

The Contracting Parties agree that, in regard to the coasting trade, the vessels and subjects of each Contracting Party shall enjoy, in the domi-

Qualunque prodotto che può o potrà legalmente importarsi ne' porti degli stati e possessi di Sua Maestà Britannica sopra bastimenti Inglesi, potrà egualmente importarsi negli stessi porti sopra bas- timenti Italiani, senza essere sottoposti ad altri o maggiori diritti od oneri di quelli cui lo stesso prodotto andrebbe sottoposto se fosse importato con bastimenti Inglesi; e reciprocamente, tutti i prodotti che possono o potranno legalmente impor- tarsi no' porti degli stati e possessi di Sua Maestà il Re d'Italia sopra bastimenti Italiani, potranno parimente importarsi sopra bastimenti Inglesi, senza essere tenuti ad altri o maggiori diritti ed oneri di quelli cui lo stesso prodotto andrebbe sot- toposto, se fosse importato con bastimenti Italiani. Questa eguaglianza di reciproco trattamento sarà sempre dovuta, sia che le mercanzie provengano direttamente dal luogo d'origine, ovvero da qual- siasi altra località.

La stessa perfetta eguaglianza di trattamento sarà dovuta a riguardo della esportazione, in guisa che negli stati e possessi di una e dell' altra delle due Parti Contraenti si pagheranno sull' uscita dei pro- dotti che possono o potranno legalmente esportarsi, gli stessi diritti di esportazione e si accorderanno gli stessi favori e drawbacks, tanto se siano espor- tati sopra bastimenti Italiani quanto sopra basti- menti Inglesi, e qualunque siasi la loro destinazione, per un porto dell' una o dell' altra delle Parti Contraenti o di una terza Potenza.

ARTICOLO VI.

Nessun diritto di tonnellaggio, di porto, di pilo- taggio, di faro, di quarantena, o altro simigliante od equivalente, di qualunque natura o sotto qual- siasi denominazione, potrà essere riscosso a profitto dello Stato, di funzionari pubblici, d'individui pri- vati, di corporazioni o di stabilimenti di qualsivoglia specie, se tali diritti non siano egualmente riscossi sui bastimenti nazionali. Quest' eguaglianza di trattamento si applicherà reciprocamente ai rispet- tivi bastimenti, da qualsiasi porto o località arrivino, e qualunque sia la loro destinazione.

ARTICOLO VII.

Per tutto quanto concerne il collocamento, il carico e il discarico dei bastimenti ne' porti, bacini, docks, darsene, rade e riviere degli stati o possessi ne' due paesi, non potrà accordarsi alcun privilegio ai navigli nazionali, il quale non sia parimente concesso ai navigli dell' altro paese, essendo inten- zione delle due Parti Contraenti che a tal riguardo i bastimenti dell' una e dell'altra siano trattati sul piede di prefetta eguaglianza.

ARTICOLO VIII.

In ordine al commercio di costa o cabotaggio, le Parti Contraenti pattuiscono che i bastimenti e sudditi dell' una godranno, negli stati e possessi
