The following Notification from Her Majesty's Consul at Canton is published for general information.

CANTON INDEMNITY MONEY.

NOTIFICATION.

BRITISH CONSULATE, CANTON, 6th January, 1864. With reference to his Notification in the Hongkong Government Gazette No. 52 of the 26th December, 1863, the Under- signed has to make known to the parties interested, that he will be prepared to issue to the Claimants or their legal Repre- sentatives Certificates for the amount of interest which have been verified on claims already paid, and the amounts of principal and interest on those lately admitted, on application at this Office between the hours of ten in the forenoon and four in the afternoon, on Tuesday the 12th instant and Friday the 15th instant, and on every succeeding Tuesday and Friday until further

notice.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at the Surveyor General's Office, on or before Friday the 29th Instant, for the construction of the following works:-

Item 1.-A stone Bridge across the South termination of the present Canal at Bowrington. Item 2.-Continuation of Canal Walls at Bowrington to connect with Wongneichoong Bridge. Item 3.--Culverts and Drains in Victoria and Suburbs.

Item 4.-Surface Channels and Drains in Streets in Victoria and Suburbs.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and other information obtained, at the Surveyor General's Office, between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified for general information, that a List of the Tenements valued for the current Year under the provisions of Ordinance No. 5 of 1863 will be open for inspection at the Government Offices for Fourteen Days commencing on Tuesday, the 19th Instant.

Persons wishing to inspect the List are requested to apply at the Colonial Treasury to Mr. Hyndman, Police and Lighting Rate Clerk.
