NOTICE.

Applications for Passage Broker's Licenses for the year 1866, under Ordinance No. 11 of 1857, will be received at this Office from this date up to the 31st December next.

Applicants are requested to state the names and addresses of the Parties they offer as Sureties, under Clause I. of the

Ordinance aforesaid.

Medical Men desirous of practising under the Emigration Act and Local Emigration Ordinances whose Diplomas are not already registered, are requested, to send them to this Office for Registration; otherwise their Certificates will not be received.

POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.

Mails by the Benares.

THE Contract Packet Benares will be des- patched with the usual Mails on Wednesday the 15th instant.

The times appointed for closing, are:

For Registered Letters 6 P.M. on Tuesday the 14th instant.

For Ordinary Letters and Newspapers at 9 A.M. on Wednesday the 15th instant.

Letters can be posted from 9 a.m. till 1 p.M. and Newspapers, Books or Packets of Patterns from 9 A.M. until Noon on the 16th instant; such correspondence will not however be des- patched unless it bears an extra Eighteen cent Stamp on each Letter and an extra Two cont Stamp on each Newspaper, Book or Packet of Patterns, as late fees, in addition to the ordinary postage.

Late Letters addressed to the United Kingdom vià Marseilles or to Singapore can be posted on board from 1.30 to 1.50 P.M. for a late fee of 48 cents each in addition to the postage, after which no Letters can be received.

A Box will be kept open for the receipt of correspondence from 6 P.M. on the 14th instant matil 7 A.M. on the 15th instant,

Sealed Boxes containing the correspondence of Box holders will be received at the Window set apart for the purpose on the East side of the building.

At Aden with the Company's Mail Steamers for Seychelles, Reunion and Mauritius;

At Messina, with the Company's Mail Steamers for all the Italian Ports.

Cargo and Specie will be registered for Loa- don as well as for Marseilles, and accepted in transit through Marseilles for the principal places of Europe.

The Company has authority to grant Insur- ance on all Cargo conveyed by its Vessels, at a premium of 13 per cent upon Merchandize, and 1 per cent on Treasure, from Hongkong to Lyons, Paris, London, and Holland, and pro- portionally for places this side of Sacz.

Cargo will be received on board until 4 o'clock of the 23rd November, Specic and Parcels until 5 o'clock of the 24th.

A Written Declaration of the Contents and Value of the Packages destined beyond Suez is required by the Egyptian Goverument, and must he furnished by the Shippers to the Agent with the Bills of Lading; and the Company will not be responsible for any consequence or prejudice which may ensue from an incorrect declaration.

NOTICE.

All correspondence for places to which prepay- ment is compulsory must be prepaid in Hongkong A HOUSE required in a central part of the

Postage Stamps.

Insufficiently Stamped Letters addressed to the United Kingdom will be sent on, a fine of One shilling being charged in addition to the postage due upon all such Letters as may be posted before 9A.3. on the 15th iustunt.

Insufficiently Stamped and Unstamped corres- pondence addressed to places to which it cannot be forwarded unpaid will be opened and returned to the writers as early as possible, but no guarantee can be given that such Letters, which may be posted on the morning of the departure of the Parket, will be returned until after the closing

of the Mail.

The Postage Stamps should be placed on the upper right hand corner of the correspondence except in ease where they may be used in payment of Late Fees when the Stamp or Stamps repre- senting the late fee should be placed on the lower left hand corner of the correspondence.

All transactions in fractional parts of a Dollar will be conducted in the Coins prescribed by Ordinance 1 of 1864, and the Proclamation of the 22nd January 1864, and no other Coins but those therein specified will either he received or given in change as fractional parts of a Dollar.

Payment for Postage Stamps must be made in the current Dollars of the Colony or Bank Notes.
