PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency WILLIAM THOMAS MERCER, Esquire, Acting Governor and Commander-in- Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.
Whereas by Section thirty nine of Ordinance No. 10 of 1865 being "An Ordinance to consolidate and amend the enactments in Force in this Colony against Offences relating to the Coin" it is enacted as
follows:
"This Ordinance, or such Portion or Portions thereof as to the Governor may seem fit, shall "commence and take effect on such Day as shall hereafter be fixed by Proclamation under the Hand of "the Governor; and such Portion or Portions of such Ordinance as shall not be included in such Pro- "clamation shall be brought into operation on a Day to be further fixed by another Proclamation under "the Hand of the Governor."
Now therefore I WILLIAM THOMAS MERCER, Acting Governor of the Colony of Hongkong in pursuance of the said Ordinance and by virtue of the authority thereby in me vested, do hereby under my hand Proclaim that the whole of the said Ordinance excepting Sections four, five, sixteen, seventeen twenty six, and twenty seven, shall be brought into operation and be in full force and effect on and after the Date hereof.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified that, under the terms of Section 3 of Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, and Section, 1 of Ordinance No. 7 of 1858, Thursday the 26th day of October next, is fixed for a Special Sessions of the Justices of the Peace, to be held at the Police Magistrates' Office, at 11 o'Clock in the forenoon of that day, for the purpose of considering Applications for Licenses for the Sale of Spirituous and Fermented Liquors during the Year commencing on 1st December next.
Applications for such Licenses must be lodged at the Police Magistrates' Office at least Ten days before the Sessions, in the Form prescribed by the above quoted Section of the first mentioned Ordinance, and no Application will, after that period, be received for submission to the Sessions.
Printed Forms of Applications may be obtained by intending Applicants at the Police Magistrates' Office between the hours of 10 A.M, and 4 P.M.
