By His Excellency WILLIAM THOMAS MERCER, Esquire, Acting Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice- Admiral of the sune, with the Advice of the Legislative Council of Hongkong.
An Ordinance to apply a Sum not exceeding Seven hundred and Forty-one thousand Dollars to the Public Service of the year 1866.

Whereas the Expenditure required for the Service of this Colony for the year 1866 has been estimated at the Sum of Seven hundred and Forty thousand One hundred and Fifty-five Dollars and Eighty Cents: Be it enacted and ordained by His Excellency the Acting Governor of Hongkong with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:--
I. A Sum not exceeding Seven hundred and Forty-one thousand Dollars shall be and the same is hereby charged upon the Revenue of this Colony for the Service of the year 1866, and the said Sum so charged shall be expended as hereinafter specified; that is to say:

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified that from and after this date the business of the General Post Office will be carried on in the new Building in the Queen's Road facing Wyndham Street..

PUBLIC NOTICE.

In consequence of the number of useless and dangerous Dogs that are allowed to be at large, it is hereby notified that the Police have received orders to enforce the Provisions of Section 4 of Ordinance No. 14 of 1845 which, among other things, authorizes any Police Constable to destroy any Dog found straying or wandering about during the day time without any Owner, and not having a Collar with the Owner's Name and residence inscribed thereon, also any Dog found so straying or wandering about between 10 o'clock at Night and Gunfire in the Morning.
Owners of Dogs are requested to note that these orders will be carried into effect from Monday, the 11th Instant.
