GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
The following Notices received from the Government of India, respecting the Alguada Reef Light House, are published for general information.

The following Notice has been received for publication from the Superintendent of the Alguada Reef Light House, in a letter dated the 27th April last :--
"COASTS OF BRITISH BURMAIL.
Alguada Reef Light House.
"A first class Revolving Holophotal Light, showing a bright white light once in a minute, will probably be shown from the Alguada Reef, in the Bay of Bengal, on or about the 1st May 1865.
The height of the centre of the light will be 114 feet above high water, and the light will be visible from the deck of a ship about twenty (20) nautical miles.

Cape Negrais bears from the Light House, North quarter West.
"The Pagoda on Pagoda Point, North three-quarter East.
"The centre of Diamond Island, North North-east
"Porian Point, North-east by North.
"A further notice will be issued when the above light is actually lit."

A First Class Revolving Light was exhibited for the first time from the Alguada Reef in the Bay of Bengal,
of the 23rd April 1865, and will continue to be shewn from that date.

The Light, which is 144 feet above high water mark, attains its greatest brilliancy once a minute; and is visible, in cl weather, 20 nautical miles from the poop of a large ship.
