I have to instruct you to state to the Minister for Foreign Affairs that Her Majesty's Government have fully considere i this proposal, and that they are prepared to recognize the flag provisionally, saving the rights of the States of Holstein an Schleswig and of the German Confederation, and only till the definitive Constitution of the Duchies concerned.—I am, &e.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified that the functions of the Board of Education, to whom the best thanks of this Government are due, will cease on the 30th Instant; and that, from and after that date, the Educational Department in this Colony will be placed under the sole supervision of FREDERICK STEWART, Esquire, Head Master of the Central School.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Whereas the Colonial Treasurer has reported that great difficulty has been experienced of late in collecting the Police and Lighting Rates of the Colony from the Occupiers of tenements liable thereto, and it is deemed expedient that the said Rates should be henceforth and until further notice levied upon the Owners of such tenements, as provided by Section 14 of Ordinance No. 5 of 1863:
It is hereby notified that, on and after the 1st day of July next and until further notice, all Polico and Lighting Rates due in respect of any tenement in the Colony will be levied upon the Owner of such tenement. It is likewise hereby notified that, for the convenience of the Government and the Public, the amount of Water, Lighting and Police Rates due in respect of any tenement may be ascertained at the Colonial Treasury at the time appointed for the payment of the Crown Rent due in respect of the same tenement, and may be paid simultaneously therewith.
