GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

CHARLES MAY, Esquire, First Police Magistrate, Sheriff and Coroner, having obtained twelve months' leave of absence from the Colony, His Excellency the Acting Governor has been pleased to appoint CECIL CLEMENTI SMITH, Esquire, to act as a Police Magistrate until further notice.

WALTER MEREDITH DEANE, Esquire, will act as Registrar General, in place of Mr. C. C. SMITH His Excellency has also been pleased to appoint MALCOLM STRUAN TONNOCHY, Esquire, to act as Sheriff and Coroner, in Mr. MAY's absence, or until further notice.

These arrangements will take effect from the 13th Instant.
