34. To prevent loss, miscarriage, or mislaying articles or packing cases containing them, which occupy less bulk than two cubic feet, should not be sent separately, but packages under such size, containing, as far as possible, the same classes of articles, should be transmitted in combination.

35. It is not the intention of the Promoters to take any steps in reference to the protection of Inventions, or Designs, by Patent or Registration.

38. Paintings in Oil and Water Colours, and Drawings.

39. Sculpture, Models, Die-sinking, and Intaglios.

36. The arrangement of the Works of Art within the space allotted to each Foreign Country will be entirely under the control of the accredited representatives of that country, subject only to the necessary general regulations.

37. Detailed customs regulations in regard to free exhibition packages will be issued hereafter.

The Honorable WILLIAM HENRY ADAMS, Esquire, Chief Justice of Hongkong, having obtained Six Months' leave of absence on Medical Certificate, the Acting Governor has been pleased to appoint the Honorable HENRY JOHN BALL, Esquire, to be Acting Chief Justice; and JULIAN PAUNCEFOTE, Esquire, to be Acting Attorney General, until further notice.

The Reverend JOIN JAMES IRWIN, D. D., Colonial Chaplain of Hongkong, having obtained One Year's leave of absence, it is hereby notified that, with the concurrence of the Senior Naval Officer, the Reverend JOHN WILSON will act as Colonial Chaplain until further notice.

HARBOUR MASTER'S OFFICE, VICTORIA, HONGKONG, 10th May, 1865.

Notice to Consignees, Masters and Others in charge of Merchant Vessels.

1. On or before the 1st June proximo all ships with the following exceptions shall be moved over to the North side of the Harbour mooring them properly with 45 fathoms on each chain, the anchors lying in an E. N. E. and W. S. W. direction

from each other.

2. The Southern line of this anchorage is the North Extremity of Hongkong shut in with the South Extremity of the Kowloong Peninsula hearing E. by S.; the Top Gallant Masts and Yards are to be on deck and flying Jib-boom in, a spare anchor should be ready for letting go, and the hawse invariably kept clear.

3. Hulks or receiving Ships (not having Top Masts pointed) may, for convenience, lie on the South shore.

4. Ships discharging cargo may also by permission anchor on the South shore.

5. The Peninsular and Oriental Company's Hulk Fort William is, for the convenience of the Public Service, allowed to

remain where she is the Mail Steamers anclioring near her but not to Southward.

Vessels under Articles 3, 4 and 5 must perfectly understand that although they have permission to remain there, it ontirely at their own risk.
