T. II. ELMENHORST & FREDERICK SANDER, now or lately trading under the style or firm name of ELMENHORST & SANDER, De- fendunts. "HEREAS au action has been commenced in this Court at the suit of the above named William Pustau, William Probst, Julius Menke and S. Van Reesema trading together under the style or firm name of "William Pustau and Company" against the above named T. H. Elmenhorst and Frederick Sander as Copartners now or lately carrying on business under the style or firm of "Elmenhorst and Sander" and no appearance has been entered for the said T. H. Elmenhorst in the said action and he is alleged to be absent from the Colony. Notice is hereby given that unless the said T. H. Elmenhorst or some person on his behalf shall enter an appear- ance for the said T. H. Elmenhorst to the said ac- tion on or before the Twenty-second day of March instant, the said William Pustau, William Probst, Julius Meuke and S. Van Reesema will cause such appearance to be entered for him in pur- sunnce of the Ordinance of this Island "for regu- lating Process in Actions against Persons absent from the Colony" and will proceed in the said action as if the said T. H. Elmenhorst had resided in Hongkong and had appeared in person.

The Company has authority to grant Insur- ance on all Cargo conveyed by its Vessels, at a premium of 1 per cent upon Merchandize, and 1 per cent on Treasure, from Hongkong to Lyons, Paris, London, and Holland, and pro- dortionally for places this side of Suez.

Cargo will be received on board until 4 o'clock of the 24th March, Specie and Parcels until 5 o'clock of the 25th.

A Written Declaration of the Contents and Value of the Packages destined beyond Suez is required by the Egyptian Government, and must be furnished by the Shippers to the Agent with the Bills of Lading; and the Company will not be responsible for any consequence or prejudice which may ensue from an incorrect declaration. For particulars respecting Freight and Pas- sage, apply at the Company's Office, Queen's Road.

N Sunday, the 26th March, at Noon, the Company's Steam-ship "DONNAI,”. Commander BOURDON, H. I. M. N., with Her Britannic Majesty's Mails, Passengers, Specie and Cargo, will leave this Port for the above places, in connection:

At Alexandria, with the Company's and the Austrian Lloyd's Mail Steamers for the Levant, Black Sea, Greece, Corfu and Trieste.

At Messina, with the Company's Semi-weekly Mail Steamers for Malta and all the Italian Ports. At Marseilles, with the Weekly Company's Mail Steamer for Valencia and by Railroad to Madrid.

Passengers going to London are informed that the Company will convey, free of charge, from Marseilles to London, their Baggage to the extent allowed by the regulation.

Cargo and Specie will be registered for Lon- don as well as for Marseilles, and accepted in transit through Marseilles for the principal places of Europe.

Manager of this Branch during my absence and takes charge from this date.
