Arrangements having been made for forwarding from Point de Galle by the French Packets the Mails arriving from tralia in those cases when the French Packets afford a prospect of an earlier receipt of the Mails at Hongkong than if were kept for conveyance by the regular British Contract Packets, it is hereby notified for general information, that as French Sca Rate of Postage will have to be accounted for by the British Post Office to the Post Office of France when Mails are conveyed by the French Packet the correspondence contained in them, although fully prepaid at the place of origin, will be taxed on arrival in this Office at the rate of

7d. for a letter not exceeding an ounce in weight,

And so on adding 1s. 2d. for each ounce or fraction of an ounce after the first ounce, and Newspapers or Prices Current 1d. each, which will be collected on delivery of the correspondence in Hongkong.
