PROCLAMATION.

[L.S.] RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL.

By His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, Knight, and Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas by Section XI of Ordinance No. 11 of 1867, it is enacted as follows:-

"This Ordinance shall commence and take effect on such Day as shall hereafter be fixed by "Proclamation under the hand of the Governor:"

Now, therefore, I, SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, Governor of the Colony of Hongkong, in pursuance of the said Section and by virtue of the authority thereby in me vested, do hereby under my hand Proclaim that the said Ordinance shall commence and take effect on the First Day of January,

1868.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that a List of the Tenements valued for the Year 1868, under the Provisions of Ordinance No. 5 of 1863, will be open for inspection at the Government Offices for Fourteen Days, commencing on Tuesday the 19th instant.

Persons wishing to inspect the List are requested to apply at the Colonial Treasury.

Tenders will be received at the Colonial Secretary's Office up to the 28th instant, at Noon, for the supply of the following Articles for the use of the Police Department:

188 Coats of Coarse Blue Serge, (about 800 yards.) 188 Trowsers of Yellow Camlet, (about 600 yards.)

188 Bamboo Hats.

188 Pairs of Chinese Shoes.

The above Articles to be made according to Patterns to be seen at the Central Police Station. Samples to accompany the Tenders.

Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any Tender.
